The primary work of organizational change leaders today is enabling the emergence of a new collective capacity for complex sensemaking and adaptive action.
More than ever before, organizations are challenged with the task of finding a way forward in this complex world, against an uncertain future and in the face of rapidly changing conditions.
As organizational leaders, you have no doubt experienced this challenge. The typical response is some sort of business transformation (e.g. agile). And yet, transformational initiatives rarely effect the kind of changes envisioned.
Now, Generative AI is here, creating rapid and almost unprecedented technological advancements, adding more confusion to our world.
Our work at Evolvagility is focused on a profound question:
How, can we evolve in the face of our complex challenges and respond to them in a new way?
Research has shown that, as humans, we instinctively respond to wicked complex situations by each of us “making up” our own personal version of the world. What we make up is based on our individual sensemaking capacity - how we experience things, the stories we tell ourselves, and what works for us.
It is only when we come together, we find that others are making up a different world, with different realities; inviting us to amend our own. This creates fear, siloed thinking, resistance and doubt. Venturing beyond our own meaning-making is hard. It is easy to believe these challenges are wicked and intractable. This is a signpost to growth and future innovation.
